Family's Day Carnival

Went back to SPS for her annual Family's Day Carnival. Arrived at about 1pm and was greeted by some familiar faces. The first person I spoke to was the school attendant, Mdm Yip. She called out to me just as I walked past the office. I have always been a good listener to her endless 'complaints' when I was still a teacher there. So imagine the amount of information that she has to share since I left about a year ago as normally nobody else would have been interested in listening to her. Managed to 'escape' from her when some of my ex-pupils of the school came up to say hello. Went round the various stalls, catching up with the other teachers and updating each other on our well-being. Glad to be seeing them again and to know that they are coping well with their work. There were some new comers to the school. There was Mr Lim, the new IT HOD and a new male music teacher. Mr Francis Tan has just became a proud father of a daughter 3 days ago. Mrs Toh is expecting while Mrs Husainy is due somewhere in September. So it seemed that they are all heeding the governmenmt's call to produce more babies. Probably it's time for me to work hard too. Was delighted to be recognised by quite a number of the pupils though I didn't really know them. Spent most the time mingling with the kids I was more familiar with and bought some oranges in support of the carnival. Just as I was about to leave, I witnessed Mr Han being dunked twice when somebody hit the bull's-eye. The crowd cheered for more but the ball just wouldn't hit the target and that marked the end of the carnival. Though it felt good to be remembered after a year absence, somehow the intimacy is not there. Really missed the closeness that I used to share with the teachers and my kids. Would love to be part of this big family again but would I be welcomed?
